At times
my self-doubt casts shadows
that follow me wherever I go
accompanied by a fear
that taints and taunts me
keeping me from life
and I quiver in the dark
telling myself that this too shall pass
It is at those times
I stand in the shadows
awaiting the light
that like dawn always comes
Other times
I shine like the sun
so I keep a bit of the light in my pocket
To save for later…
just in case
