As a regular visitor to this blog will attest to; one of my favorite spots is The Grotto; a botanical garden and shrine in my town of Portland, Oregon. This cliff goes UP 110 feet. At the top lies the Upper gardens. A climb UP there would be a major undertaking, thank goodness there is an elevator.

I am always happy to see more photos of The Grotto. it is such a soothing, restful green oasis. And it is definitely vicarious travel for me, so I think it counts!!!!

Hi Janet. I’m glad you are not sick of the place. I still visit even in the cold winter although I must confess that I am looking forward to Spring. Next time I go, I’ll think of you and you can travel with me in spirit! I’ll put you in my coat pocket to keep you warm… 😉

Since Portland is a long way from my home, I think it fits perfectly into a travel theme! I’m glad to learn there’s a lift/elevator, and there I was thinking how fit you must be climbing up to the gardens all the time! 😉

Hey Cathy: I love your sense of humor though if I did climb all that way I would be in incredible shape.

Your posts are always UPlifting…. even if they do stick mostly to wonderful and weird Portland! Getting there would involve travel for most of your readers, so you’re good!
