Travel Theme: UP

Grotto clifface--110 feet up. In Portland, SBI

“It’s easier to go down a hill than up it but the view is much better at the top”

~Henry Ward Beecher~

As a regular visitor to this blog will attest to; one of my favorite spots is The Grotto; a botanical garden and shrine in my town of Portland, Oregon.  This cliff goes UP 110 feet. At the top lies the Upper gardens. A climb UP there would be a major undertaking, thank goodness there is an elevator.

Have a splendid day!

This has been in response to Ailsa’s Travel themed photo challenge.   I’ve mostly posted photos of my town of Portland since I haven’t the occasion to travel as of late. Ailsa of Where’s My Backpack has been kind enough to never mention this to me.  If you want to join in on the fun, don’t hesitate because it may not be a travel photo you may be posting.  We’d all love to see it anyway… don’t get left behind at the station. Join in the challenge: this week’s theme is:

  4. Since Portland is a long way from my home, I think it fits perfectly into a travel theme! I’m glad to learn there’s a lift/elevator, and there I was thinking how fit you must be climbing up to the gardens all the time! 😉

  5. Your posts are always UPlifting…. even if they do stick mostly to wonderful and weird Portland! Getting there would involve travel for most of your readers, so you’re good!
