Life is full of surprises especially if one looks for them. Keeping this week’s theme of surprise in mind; I kept an eye out for some on my “adventures” yesterday. It was a surprise in itself that I even left the house at all. I had planned to stay home and watch the end of the world from the comfort of my couch since I missed the movie with John Cusack but my natural antsy got the best of Nancy so MM and I headed to one of my favorite spots; The Grotto (Big surprise, haha)
There we toured the beautiful upper gardens and I was truly surprised by a lovely pink Camellia blooming. Typically these beautiful shrubs bloom in very early Spring in this climate and it being the first day of Winter, I was taken off guard as surprises tend to do. I suppose this may be a sign of climate change (Another sarcastic surprise with yet another sarcastic haha)
After some uplifting renewal and a penny or two deposited at St. Jude we left for another favorite spot of mine: Starbucks. (More sarcastic surprise) There we sipped Chai Lattes and enjoyed the ambiance. I especially enjoy this place during the holidays. Everyone is more relaxed and people seem happier than normal…and I do so appreciate the Christmas music.
Delightfully another surprise presented itself: A fellow latte lover of the canine kind! I guess humans aren’t the only animals who love to partake in a holiday treat….
….and so it went. I am glad and a bit relieved that except for these small happy surprises the day was quite uneventful. If you want to read about what could have happened yesterday take a peek at my wordy blog, if you don’t already know–I have another…and surprise! I mention John Cusack in it.

I think it is wonderful that all of your day’s surprises were happy ones, what with the end of the world and all. Interesting that Portland camellias are supposed to bloom so much later than ours. This one must think it is in NC – it’s right on time for us. The sweet dog enjoying the latte reminds me of my first cairn terrier, Ruby. We would go for frozen yogurt together, and trade off licks of the cone. But I always had to get vanilla if we were sharing. Oh my, another old fart mental tangent just occurred…which is less of a surprise than it used to be.

Agree with you if you’re looking for surprises with a positive attitude then you will find many positive issue – if one looks with a negative attitude one will sure find everything negative… 🙂
HI Drake, I try to stay positive although I haven’t always been that way but I am finding in my “old age” that life is so much better that way… 🙂
